public policy

The Laidlaw Foundation is committed to advancing the social health and inclusion of Ontario’s young people. Through public policy, research and publications we aim to better understand the root causes of social inequities and identify practical solutions through the work of our grantees and advocacy efforts.

As we continue to strengthen our relationship with governments and stakeholders, our grantees continue to inform our policy agenda.

We believe in empowering young people and communities to achieve their full potential as we advocate for evidence-based and innovative policy solutions.

What We Do

It's more important than ever that philanthropic foundations take stands on issues that are
important to them and the communities they serve.

We recognize our privilege as a funder and know that advocacy is an unfortunate luxury due to time and resources. We believe that systemic and financial barriers should not hinder the success of Ontario's young people. That's why we provide grantees with public policy training, media relations support and advocate for more equitable outcomes for Ontario's youth.

We convene, lobby government and fund initiatives that are actively trying to address
systemic barriers that disenfranchise Black and Indigenous youth.
