Culture 2023 Hamilton IYCFF First Nation Grassroots Group Kahnekanoron – Summer/Fall 2023 Funded Amount: $24500 / Projects / IYCFF / Kahnekanoron – Summer/Fall 2023 Kahnekanoron (water is precious, Kanien’keha/Mohawk) aims to deepen connections between Indigenous women and 2SLGBTQ+ folks and our traditional food and medicine teachings and practices. By growing a community garden and offering a series of workshops on planting, caring for, and harvesting traditional foods and medicines, Kahnekanoron empowers Indigenous women and queer folks in reclaiming relationships with land in meaningful ways that keep ourselves and communities well. Kahnekanoron creates opportunities for Indigenous women and queer folks to plant, grow, harvest, and process traditional foods and medicines. Kahnekanoron works to reconnect Indigenous women and queer folks with our ancestrally inherited land relations.
